Family support workers are the guardian angels of families in need, those affected by poverty, sometimes illiterate. In this job your communication skills are your most precious tools, as it can help you defuse tensed and potentially dangerous situations and provide comfort and reassurance to those in need. A family support worker has to go to the homes of those they provide support and care for. As these are usually troubled families affected by violence, drug abuse or home to mentally ill people, having great empathy and being able to connect with the inhabitants at a human level, is the key to conduct their job in safe conditions.

Hygiene and health education

Family support workers sometimes take the role of mothers and teach even grown-ups how to perform basic hygiene tasks in order to get them accepted as members of the society.
