Tips for Web Testers’ Resumes

Analytical mind

You are mainly a bug and problem hunter and you need to think about what could go wrong from different points of view: speed, functionality, database connection, browser compatibility, navigation and much more. For each of these possible downsides you need to create the situation to see if the performance is according to client’s specifications or needs improvement. You are also required to break down the ensemble into small puzzle pieces and test each of them independently, and then test the whole thing once more. Logic plays a paramount role in this endeavor and as you become more senior it becomes your duty not only to find problems, but to classify them and suggest solutions.

Communication inside and outside the organization

As a web tester you are sometimes required to meet up with the client to understand exactly what they are looking for and are willing to pay for. You need to know how to ask the right questions and bring the answers back to the team you belong to. Communicating with your mates is also part of the job, as you report your findings and go back and forth with developers until a solution is found.

Work management

As a web tester you are expected to follow a strict work routine, either developed by yourself of your company. Each set of tests should be performed in a certain order to help minimize the risk of hiding errors. You need to follow a plan, complete with estimated testing times and passing criteria.
